SUMMARY: WATCHMEN is a convoluted adaptation of an acclaimed, but nihilistic, graphic novel about masked crime fighters trying to find out the reason behind the murder of one of their own. WATCHMEN is a repulsive, mediocre, overlong movie filled with gory violence, graphic sex, extreme nudity, and humanist, anti-American values promoting a socialist utopia where liberty, justice and goodness are destroyed for the sake of totalitarian peace.

IN BRIEF:

WATCHMEN is most heavily promoted movie this year. Set in an alternate 1985 New York City, it is based on an acclaimed, but nihilistic, graphic novel about three masked crimefighters investigating the murder of one of their own. Rorschach, the only one of the three vigilantes not retired, warns the other two that the murder is part of a plot to kill and discredit them. Eventually, the other two crimefighters, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre II, try to enlist the help of Silk Spectre II's former lover, Dr. Manhattan, to stop the plot. They discover the plot may be part of another plot to kill millions of people in order to stave off a nuclear confrontation between the United States and the Communist Soviet Union.

WATCHMEN is a repulsive, mediocre, long movie filled with gory violence, graphic sex, extreme nudity, and other immorality. Audiences have never seen so much gore, blood, sex, and sadism, especially in a major action movie meant for a mainstream audience. Ultimately, WATCHMEN strongly affirms humanist, socialist, anti-American values promoting a socialist utopia where liberty, justice and goodness are destroyed for the sake of a totalitarian peace.
